WANA (Nov 26) – Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, met with Slovenia’s Foreign Minister, Tanja Fajon, at the 10th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Forum in Portugal. He condemned the sanctions against Iran as ineffective and unlawful, and they discussed bilateral relations, regional developments, and Iran-Europe relations.

 

During the meeting, Minister Araghchi emphasized the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled policy of continuing and strengthening cooperation with other countries.

 

He stressed the importance of all parties adhering to recognized international principles and norms and the need for joint efforts to address global challenges. He also noted that sanctions and pressure are not only contrary to international law and the UN Charter but have also proven ineffective.

 

Araghchi described the situation in the West Asia region as highly dangerous due to the ongoing genocide by the Israeli regime and its aggression against Lebanon and other regional countries.

He called for the responsibility of all nations, especially those supporting the Israeli regime, to stop Israel’s crimes and warmongering and to prevent the escalation of threats to international peace and security.

 

The Slovenian Foreign Minister also highlighted Iran’s important role in the West Asia region and its contribution to safeguarding regional peace and stability. She stressed the importance of expanding international efforts to prevent the spread of insecurity and instability in the region.

 

Earlier, Araghchi also met with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković and discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Araghchi emphasized Iran’s readiness to strengthen ties with Bosnia, especially in areas of mutual interest.

 

He also outlined Iran’s stance on regional and international developments, particularly condemning the Israeli regime’s aggression in West Asia, and called for global efforts to halt the genocide of Palestinian Muslims and end Israel’s attacks on Lebanon.
